****** There is a difference between an all matching carbine and how it left the factory, a lot of M1 Carbine contractors shipped parts to other Contractors. All matching vs how it left the factory: Most people agree that NPM made the highest quality carbine even though they only made 4 of there parts and relied on a large number subcontractors to supply there parts. They did not begin shipping complete rifles until February 1943 and production did not speed up until April 1943, they had a slow start. The Government first issued contracts to NPM in 1942. So I'm not sure if these were ever issued or not. I've never heard of anyone owning one and I can't find any reliable resourced online. There were 239 replacement Carbines assembled by Commercial Controls from left over parts in June of 1944, These rifles were serialized from 0 - 239. Parts made directly by National Postal Meter: Bolts, Receivers, Trigger housings and slides (These parts will have revision numbers stamped on them, Example: N - 14)
